Promoting Interoperability through Research, Standardisation and Demonstration
Abstract: This paper presents the activities and the background of eBIZ-TCF (eBusiness for Textile/Clothing and Footwear), an European large scale initiative to foster the adoption of eBusiness (and related technologies and standards) in two industrial sectors (Textile-Clothing and Footwear) that are characterised by a large presence of SMEs.
To achieve interoperability between the company systems, the project leaded to adopt in a wide number of pilots standardised sectorial languages (TexWeave/Moda-ML, EFNET/Shoenet), an UBL (Universal Business Language) Use Profile and a common communication architecture (with references to ebXML specifications and WS protocols).
The project is the last stage of a path where research, demonstration and standardisation activities converged to define the approach to the inter-organisational interoperability and the tools that support the creation of a first prototype of framework for interoperability for an industrial sector.
Authors: P. De Sabbata, A. Brutti, N. Gessa, A. Frascella, C. Novelli, G. D'Agosta, M. Stefanova, V. Cerminara and S. Cristiani.
